POLAROID
WOW!
I can think of no better way to start this letter than the above. The
Self-Exposed workshop you conducted for the Montgomery County School Counselors Conference was
most definitely a WOW!
Having had the opportunity to see, hear and experience the session first
hand was tremendous. I saw how the counselors "discovered" new things about themselves.
They not only discovered, they shared their new discoveries with their peers. The discovery
and sharing, by their own words, was made easier and less of a concern because of Self-Exposed.
I encourage you to continue to help individuals discover who they are as they seek to fulfill
their life roles.

It was great to have the opportunity to see ReDefining in action, and see
not only the enthusiasm of the crowd, but the diversity of the crowd down to our Georgetown
location for the seminar. I think that your ReDefining program would not only make a great
workbook-style self help publication, but could also be the groundwork for a highly successful
ongoing event series in our stores.

I consider it an honor, and my extreme good fortune, that Barnes & Noble
Georgetown was the starting point for a program that I have no doubt will soon sweep the
nation.

This letter is to express my sincerest thanks for bringing the Self-Exposed
program to Annandale High School. It is rare that a program produces change in high school
students. I can truly say that students were effected personally and deeply. Students
stated to me that their sense of self-awareness was enhanced and that they were able to see
themselves in a completely different way. Students found a simple, yet profound way to
express their feelings and goals. The entire day was time well spent for students and staff
members. I hope that we will be able to use Self-Exposed in the future, and that it can
become a permanent part of our curriculum in several disciplines.

Thank you for taking part in our Professional Development
Conference. Your presentation on "ReDefining" was excellent. You showed us how
to gain control of words rather than let them define us!

I find ReDefining to be an intriguing idea, as well as a powerful
tool for individuals as they reassess their values and themselves in a rapidly changing world.
We are now, more than ever, a global community - it is vital for each of us to know ourselves
and strive to comprehend all others. ReDefining initiates this effort.

As a clinical psychologist I recognize that cognitive restructuring can be
an effective tool for many clients to address issues underlying depression in particular. I
believe Danna has creatively adapted this concept with ReDefining in an innovative
approach towards enhancing human potential.
WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS
As an engineer my day for the most part focuses on the technological aspect
of life, sometime setting aside the human factors that are so important to full success and
feel successful. I have found the exercise of ReDefining transform into my daily routine of
thinking as it adds creativity to my work and improves the final result. During my full career
in Aerospace with NASA, I have participated in many courses and seminars with a personal
development objective. The ReDefining workshops promote these human factors and inspire
interaction with a full range of diversity that allows everyone to feel the value in personal
growth.

I have taken many classes in my life. They range back to those from Ansel
Adams and most recently with Phil Borges. They have included Barbara Bordnick and Freeman
Patterson. They each have been great experiences. That being said, I found your Self-Exposed
class to be the hardest and the most rewarding in terms of the growth of my work after the
class. As I look back, I realize that each of the other classes was a great experience.
However, yours forced growth that has propelled me to the highest level of satisfaction for my
work (photography). For that I will be always grateful.

The presentation of Self-Exposed was effective, informative and the topic
was fresh and innovative. Every aspect of the program was fascinating.

Self-Exposed is a challenging and thought provoking exercise in self
analysis and understanding through the unusual medium of the camera lens. Many struggle
just to verbalize their beliefs and their inner self. Addressing my beliefs and fears through
the use of images was truly a unique experience.

A tremendous idea based on a simple concept (like most great ideas are).
Would love to have had more time. The passion of the presenters was contagious.
